Ramesh was shocked after learning about the brutal killing of Gauri, whom he knew closely. His film would explore all possible angles for her murder. Ramesh stated: "I am looking at the incident from the angle of an investigative journalist. It is a humble attempt to get justice for Gauri, who I knew for the past two decades." The filmmaker, however, said his intention is not to "exploit" Gauri's death.
