Yamaha launches YZF R15-based Y16ZR moped in Malaysia: Details here
Japanese automaker Yamaha has launched its Y16ZR moped in Malaysia. It is based on the same platform as the YZF R15 V3 bike sold in India. As for the highlights, the two-wheeler has a sporty look and comes with a digital instrument console and an all-LED lighting setup. It is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine. Here are more details.
The vehicle has an all-LED lighting setup
The Yamaha Y16ZR has an eye-catching design, featuring an indicator-mounted front apron, stepped-up seat, a pillion grab rail, an upswept exhaust, a 12V charging port, and Yamaha Smart Lock with call-back facility. It houses an LCD instrument console that shows information like RPM, speed, and operational gear, a full-LED lighting setup, and rides on designer wheels. It also packs a 5.4-liter fuel tank.
It runs on a 17hp, 155cc engine
The Yamaha Y16ZR draws power from a 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine sourced from the R15 that makes 17.7hp of maximum power and 14.4Nm of peak torque. The mill is linked to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch.
Disc brakes on both the wheels ensure safety
To ensure the safety of the rider, the Yamaha Y16ZR is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. However, there is no ABS for better handling on the roads. Suspension duties on the moped are taken care of by telescopic forks on the front side and a mono-shock unit on the rear end.
Yamaha Y16ZR: Pricing and availability
In Malaysia, the Yamaha Y16ZR carries a price tag of RM 10,888 (roughly Rs. 1.91 lakh). However, it is unlikely to be launched in India as there is no demand for mopeds here.
