Yamaha Neo electric scooter arrives in European market
Japanese automaker Yamaha has launched its Neo scooter in Europe. It is unclear whether it would be introduced in our market. As for the highlights, the two-wheeler bears a stylish look and offers an LCD instrument cluster and twin LED headlamps. It is fueled by an electric powertrain and promises a range of up to 68km on a single charge.
Why does this story matter?
The Yamaha Neo is a good-looking scooter with decent features and performance. A lot of buyers in Europe should be interested in getting their hands on this two-wheeler. The brand is yet to announce whether the vehicle will be up for grabs here. Provided it does, the competition in the electric two-wheeler segment will be raised to a great extent.
The scooter has 13-inch wheels and single-piece seat
The Yamaha Neo sports a headlight-mounted front apron, a flat footboard, a stepped-up single-piece seat with a pillion grab rail, and dual-tone paintwork. The scooter packs LED headlamps, an LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, and rides on 13-inch alloy wheels shod in low rolling resistance tires. It has a ground clearance of 135mm and an under-seat storage capacity of 27 liters.
It attains a top speed of 40km/h
The Yamaha Neo packs a 2.06kW electric motor linked to two removable 19.2Ah Lithium-ion battery packs. The vehicle hits a top speed of 40km/h and promises a range of around 68km on a single charge (using two batteries).
It gets telescopic front forks
To ensure the safety of the rider, the Yamaha Neo is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with two riding modes: STD and Eco for better handling on the roads. Suspension duties on the electric scooter are taken care of by KYB telescopic forks on the front side and a single shock absorber on the rear end.
