Maruti Suzuki boosts production capacity, waiting period to go down
Maruti Suzuki has recently commissioned an extra vehicle assembly line at its Manesar facility, significantly enhancing its production capabilities. This new line, now part of the existing Plant-A, is capable of producing 100,000 units annually. With this addition, the total manufacturing capacity of the Manesar facility has been increased to 900,000 vehicles per annum. The first vehicle to roll off this new assembly line was an Ertiga model.
Manesar facility's milestones and contributions
The Manesar facility, home to the new assembly line, has a history of significant milestones. It first made headlines in November 2007, when it produced 100,000 cars. The plant is known for producing popular models like Wagon R, S-Presso, Celerio, Dzire, Ciaz, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6. To date, this facility has contributed over 9.5 million units toward Maruti Suzuki's impressive three crore production milestone.
Maruti Suzuki's future plans to meet growing demand
In response to growing demand, Maruti Suzuki has plans to roughly double its manufacturing capacity over the next seven to eight years. The company aims to increase its yearly production capacity to four million units. This expansion is expected to shorten waiting periods for popular car models, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. This strategic move underscores Maruti Suzuki's commitment toward meeting customer demand and maintaining a leading position in India's automotive industry.
