Volvo XC40 Recharge to be launched in India in July
Swedish automaker Volvo has announced that XC40 Recharge, its all-electric SUV, will be launched in India in July. The company has also confirmed that bookings for the four-wheeler will commence at the same time. It will be available in a single PR trim in India. The car is powered by a 78kWh battery that makes 408hp of power and 660Nm of torque.
Why does this story matter?
Volvo is not one of the loudest in the business. With every EV these days being hyped up as the answer to environmental issues, the XC40 Recharge is a breath of fresh air. However, its sedated approach shouldn't be mistaken for a lack of belief in its quality. The electric XC40 is everything that you look for in a premium luxury SUV and more.
The car rides on 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels
The Volvo XC40 Recharge features a muscular hood, a closed front grille with a body color finish, "Thor's Hammer" LED headlamps, and 'Recharge' badging. On the sides, it sports glossy black roofrails, ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 19-inch five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear end of the car is graced by vertically stacked L-shaped LED taillights and a charging port.
A 78kWh battery pack fuels the car
The Volvo XC40 Recharge has two electric motors and a 78kWh battery, which boasts a range of 418km. The electric powertrain generates 402hp/600Nm. The SUV can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The four-wheeler has six airbags and a 9.0-inch infotainment panel
The Volvo XC40 Recharge has an all-black cabin, featuring dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, air purifier, a panoramic sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. The vehicle packs a 12.0-inch instrument cluster and a 9.0-inch infotainment system with support for "Volvo On Call" facility. Six airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and a cross-traffic alert system ensure the passengers' safety.
