    What's the story

Swedish automaker Volvo had unveiled its all-electric SUV, the XC40 Recharge, in India back in March 2021.

In the latest development, the car has been officially listed in the country along with its price and specifications. However, a formal launch is yet to happen.

The four-wheeler is priced at Rs. 75 lakh and it arrives in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

The Volvo XC40 Recharge was one of the first all-electric luxury SUVs to be unveiled in India. However, roadblocks caused by the pandemic forced the automaker to delay the launch of the SUV.

The updated product website means that it is finally coming to India. However, with its competitors now firmly established, it needs to be seen how the XC40 Recharge will perform here.

    Exteriors

The SUV has a blanked-out grille

The Volvo XC40 Recharge sports a closed front grille housing the Volvo badge, "Thor's Hammer" LED headlamps, and 'Recharge' badging.

It is flanked by blacked-out roof rails, B-pillars, ORVMs, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Vertically stacked L-shaped LED taillights and a charging port grace the rear end. It is offered in Black Stone, Denim Blue, Fusion Red, Glacier silver, and Crystal White color options.

    Information

The car promises a range of 418km

The Volvo XC40 Recharge gets two electric motors and a 78kWh battery, which promises a range of 418km. The electric powertrain churns out 402hp/600Nm. The SUV can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

    Interiors

The four-wheeler features an all-black cabin

The Volvo XC40 Recharge has an all-black cabin, featuring dual-zone climate control, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel.

The vehicle packs a 12.0-inch instrument cluster and a 9.0-inch infotainment system with support for "Volvo On Call" facility.

Multiple airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and a cross-traffic alert system ensure the passengers' safety.
