Volvo S60 Black Edition debuts with new 19-inch wheels
Swedish automaker Volvo has revealed the Black Edition variant of its S60 sedan in the US. Its production is limited to less than 450 units for the model year 2022. The sedan is offered in two color options and sports cosmetic changes outside, including new 19-inch wheels with a glossy black finish. However, the vehicle's interiors and mechanicals remain unchanged.
Why does this story matter?
The Volvo S60 Black Edition offers better looks as compared to the standard model. Its bold appearance should aid it in racking up decent sales in the US market. The limited-run vehicle has been designed and built in the US and is exclusive to the country. It seems very unlikely for the four-wheeler to be introduced in India.
The car has LED headlights and black tailpipes
Volvo S60 Black Edition has a muscular hood, a large grille and Volvo badge finished in glossy black, a wide air dam, and sleek LED headlights. It is flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, black window trim, and ORVMs. Wrap-around C-shaped taillights and black-finished "VOLVO" lettering, as well as tailpipes, grace the rear. It is offered in Onyx Black Metallic and Crystal White Metallic shades.
The top-end version runs on a 415hp plug-in hybrid powertrain
The Volvo S60 Black Edition is available in the R-Design, mild-hybrid S60 Momentum, and plug-in hybrid S60 Recharge trims. In the PHEV guise, the sedan runs on a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine linked to an electric motor. The setup generates up to 415hp of power.
The sedan has five seats and a 9.0-inch infotainment system
The Volvo S60 Black Edition has a luxurious 5-seater cabin, featuring auto climate control, cruise control, key-less entry, parking sensors, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It packs a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The safety of the passengers is ensured by multiple airbags, ABS, a rear-view camera, EBD, crash sensors, and an engine immobilizer.
Volvo S60 Black Edition: Pricing and availability
In the US, the Volvo S60 Black Edition carries a starting price-tag of under $40,000 (around Rs. 30 lakh). The vehicle will be up for grabs in the country at select dealerships this spring.
