What's the story

Volkswagen has started exporting its Taigun SUV from India to the global markets. The first batch of 1,232 units is being shipped to Mexico where the vehicle is known as the T-Cross. As for the highlights, the car has a sporty design and an upmarket cabin with a host of features. In Mexico, the vehicle is fueled by a 108hp, 1.6-liter petrol engine.

Why does this story matter?

Volkswagen has been exporting vehicles since 2011 from India and the products are shipped to 61 countries across various continents. Separately, the Taigun is a very popular model in our country and now it is expected to rack up decent sales in Mexico, too. The four-wheeler will be up for grabs in three variants there, namely Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline.

The car has LED taillamps and a chromed grille

The Volkswagen Taigun/T-Cross has a sculpted bonnet, a chrome-finished grille, a wide air dam, a silvered skid plate, and sleek LED headlights with DRLs. It is flanked by roof rails, ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 17-inch alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna, a window wiper, and LED taillights grace the rear end of the SUV. Dimensions-wise, it has a wheelbase of 2,651mm.

The Volkswagen T-Cross is powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 108hp and a peak torque of 155Nm. The mill is linked to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The SUV gets six airbags and five seats

The Volkswagen Taigun/T-Cross has a spacious 5-seater cabin, featuring fabric upholstery, auto climate control, rear AC vents, key-less entry, parking sensors, cruise control, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The passengers' safety is ensured by six airbags, EBD, ABS, a rear-view camera, and crash sensors.
