Volkswagen Taigun spied testing, expected to arrive in mid-2021

Volkswagen is expected to launch the Taigun SUV in India in mid-2021. In the latest development, a test mule of the car has been spotted testing (via MotorBeam) on the road, revealing some of its features.
The key talking points of the Taigun SUV will be its sporty body, feature-loaded cabin, and the well-tuned TSI petrol engines.

Volkawagen Taigun: At a glance
The Volkswagen Taigun will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform. It will have a narrow chrome grille with dual horizontal slats, a large air dam, a roof-mounted spoiler, and silvered skid plates. For lighting, it will house LED headlamps, DRLs, and a full-width taillight.
The car will be flanked by roof rails, electrically-folding ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Volkswagen Taigun is expected to be available with two petrol engine options: a 1.0-liter TSI unit and another 1.5-liter TSI motor. However, the power figures are unknown as of now. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

A peek inside the cabin
The Taigun will offer a dual-tone 5-seater cabin with leather seats, a multifunctional steering wheel, 2-zone automatic climate control, and a voice control system.
It will also pack a touchscreen infotainment console with support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth connectivity.
On the safety front, the SUV should offer multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear-view camera.

Volkswagen Taigun will go official in India around mid-2021. It is likely to carry a starting price-tag of around Rs. 10 lakh. Once launched, it will lock horns with rivals like Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and Hyundai Creta.
