Volkswagen Taigun GT Line, Plus Sport now available in India
Volkswagen has launched two new models, the Taigun GT Line and Taigun GT Plus Sport, in India. They broke cover at the Volkswagen Annual Brand Conference 2024 held in March. The vehicles feature a sleek, black-themed design that adds an athletic touch to the 'Sport' line structure. The Taigun GT Line is priced at ₹14.08 lakh, while the more robust Taigun GT Plus Sport carries a price tag of ₹18.53 lakh.
They boast sporty exterior and interior features
The new Taigun models showcase a fresh visual appeal with features like smoked LED headlights, a Carbon Steel Gray roof, red-painted GT badge and brake calipers, dark chrome door handles, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior of the cars is equally impressive with black leatherette upholstery with red stitching, a gloss black dashboard, aluminum pedals, and a black headliner. Additional interior highlights include GT badging on the front headrests, and a Sport steering wheel with red stitching.
Taigun models equipped with powerful engines and transmission options
The Taigun GT Plus Sport is fueled by a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 148hp and 250Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Taigun GT Line comes with a 1.0-liter TSI mill that delivers 113hp of power and 178Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, but an automatic transmission option is also available for those who prefer it.
Volkswagen India's expansion plans and future launches
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director at Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, expressed confidence that the new models' aesthetic treatment, will offer a unique value proposition and enhance the Taigun's sportier appeal. The brand also previewed the GT Plus variant of the Virtus, currently in concept stage, with its launch expected later this year. Volkswagen plans to increase its sales dealerships from 193 in 2023 to 230 in 2024, and extend its presence to an additional 25 cities by end of the year.
