Tata Motors prepares for triple car launch in 2024
Tata Motors, after a successful year in 2023, is gearing up to introduce three new models to the Indian market in 2024. The carmaker's plans include expanding the Nexon range with CNG-powered variants, adding a sportier trim to the Altroz line-up, and unveiling its first new model in three years - the Curvv. These launches mark an ambitious step forward for Tata Motors as it continues to innovate and expand its product offerings.
Nexon iCNG: Industry's first turbocharged CNG car
The Nexon iCNG, unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo this year, will be the industry's first factory-made turbocharged CNG-powered car. It will use the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine as its petrol counterpart. The manual gearbox will come as standard, but an AMT option is also expected to be available. The price for the Nexon iCNG is projected to be around ₹1 lakh higher than its petrol equivalent.
Altroz Racer will compete with Hyundai's i20 N Line
Tata is preparing to launch the Altroz Racer, a sportier variant of the Altroz, designed to compete with Hyundai's i20 N Line. The Racer will share a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine with the Altroz iTurbo, but will offer an additional 10hp and feature a 6-speed manual gearbox. Distinguishing features include dual racing stripes on the bonnet and roof, 'Racer' badges, and a tweaked grille. The car will come equipped with advanced features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and segment-first ventilated front seats.
Tata Motors to unveil Curvv midsize SUV
Tata Motors's much-anticipated midsize SUV, the Curvv, will launch this year around the festive season. The Curvv's EV version will utilize Tata's Gen 2 Acti.ev platform, and get a range of approximately 450-500km. Petrol and diesel variants are expected to enter production in September, and launch either in the last quarter of 2024 or early-2025. The petrol trim will be powered by a 125hp, 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, while the diesel variant should share Nexon's 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel unit.
