Uber introduces AI-powered safety features for Moto riders in India
What's the story
Uber is rolling out new safety features for its two-wheeler service, Uber Moto, in India.
The enhancements include an AI-driven "helmet selfie" feature that will require drivers to confirm their use of helmets before starting a trip.
Plus, riders will get in-app reminders called "helmet nudges," aimed at promoting safer riding behavior.
These measures are part of Uber's commitment to improving road safety and supporting drivers with flexible earning opportunities.
Safety kits
Uber distributes safety kits to riders
Uber is also distributing 3,000 safety kits across India. The kits, which contain helmets, reflective jackets, safety stickers, and other equipment, are aimed at improving rider safety.
Harsh Malhotra, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways in India, distributed the first batch of these kits to select Uber Moto drivers in Delhi.
This initiative further highlights Uber's commitment to encourage safer riding practices among its users.
Female empowerment
New female driver preference feature launched
In a move to empower women and encourage them to take up driving as a source of flexible income, Uber is introducing a new preference feature.
It would allow female drivers to choose female-only riders.
The initiative comes as part of Uber's broader strategy to make its platform safer and more comfortable for women, while also giving them more control over their work environment.
