Triumph Scrambler 400 X launched at Rs. 2.6 lakh
The much-awaited Triumph Scrambler 400 X has finally hit the Indian market, with a price tag of Rs. 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This budget-friendly scrambler, a product of the collaboration between the iconic British motorcycle maker and Bajaj Auto, is manufactured in India. Borrowing design cues from the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X adds off-road enhancements, making it a top choice for adventure-seekers looking for a versatile and fashionable ride.
Off-road ready design and features
The 400 X sports a round LED headlight, turn indicators, fuel tank, and overall design akin to the Speed 400. However, it takes off-roading up a notch with a taller stance, headlight grille, split seat, handlebar guards, and improved ergonomics. Under the hood, lies a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 39.5hp and 37.5Nm of torque. The mill is paired with a six-speed gearbox and features a slipper and assist clutch.
Advanced technology for a superior ride
The Scrambler 400 X is packed with cutting-edge features such as LED lighting, traction control, a USB charging port, ride-by-wire throttle, a semi-digital instrument console, and switchable ABS. The bike rolls on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both fitted with dual-purpose tires. Suspension is managed by inverted front forks and a mono-shock rear absorber, while braking comes from a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc.
Competing in the Indian scrambler segment
Retailing at Rs. 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Triumph Scrambler 400 X is positioned as a high-end option in India's scrambler segment. It costs nearly Rs. 33,000 more than its street-focused sibling, the Speed 400. The bike faces competition from rivals like the Yezdi Scrambler and the Royal Enfield Scram 411. With its blend of off-road prowess, advanced features, and unique styling, the Scrambler 400 X aims to carve out its own space in the burgeoning Indian adventure motorcycle market.
