Toyota unveils Innova EV Concept: A look at top features
Japanese automaker Toyota has taken the wraps off the Innova EV Concept at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Jakarta. The company previewed the battery-powered MPV to the media personnel present at the event via a video. Apart from a sealed-off grille and the presence of blue highlights, the Innova EV looks similar to the current ICE-powered Innova Crysta.
Why does this story matter?
Of all the major automakers, Toyota has looked like the most reluctant to board the EV train so far. Although there have been rumors about the company investing a lot in the development of EVs, we have not seen anything substantial until now. Therefore, the surprise preview of the Innova EV Concept at the IIMS 2022 can be considered Toyota's official war cry.
The EV has a closed-off front grille
The Toyota Innova EV has a design similar to that of the Innova Crysta. It features a sculpted hood, sleek headlights with integrated blue LED highlights, a closed-off grille, and triangular fog lamps. It is flanked by a blue stripe running parallel to the shoulder line and silver-colored six-spoke alloy wheels. Wrap-around taillamps with blue LED elements and a charging port grace the rear.
Details about the powertrain have not been revealed
Toyota is yet to reveal any details about the powertrain of the Innova EV Concept. We can expect those details to be out in the public in the coming months.
The car gets blue accents on the upholstery
The Toyota Innova EV Concept's interior is identical to that of the Innova Crysta except for the blue accents in the cabin. It features a spacious cabin with automatic climate control, a multifunctional steering wheel, an air purifier, a digital instrument cluster, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel. To ensure passengers' safety, it has multiple airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, and cruise control.
Toyota Innova EV Concept: Availability
Toyota is yet to make any announcement regarding the Innova EV's availability. Considering that it is a concept vehicle, it may not enter production but some of its features and technologies may debut in a future Toyota EV.
