Toyota launches a more affordable variant of Glanza hatchback
Japanese automaker Toyota has introduced a more affordable variant of its recently-launched hatchback, the Glanza. The new model, titled as Glanza G MT, remains same as the standard model, except for a new petrol engine which replaces the current petrol hybrid unit. Notably, this variant is Rs. 24,000 cheaper than the existing entry-level G MT model. Here's our roundup.
Toyota Glanza: At a glance
The Toyota Glanza follows the design cues of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and features similar alloy wheels but a different grille under Toyota's badging. The car comes with electronically adjustable ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, body-colored roof spoiler, and chrome finished door handles. The hatchback also gets an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, DRLs, turn indicators, and taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Toyota Glanza sports a 5-seater cabin with fabric upholstery, height adjustable driver seat, and automatic climate control. The hatchback also gets a multifunctional steering wheel and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it offers dual-front airbags, ABS and EBD, and a rearview camera as well as rear parking sensors.
Power and performance
The new variant of the Toyota Glanza is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter petrol engine which is capable of producing 82bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 4,200rpm. For transmission duties, the hatchback is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an automatic CVT unit. As for the fuel efficiency, it promises a mileage of 21.01kmpl.
And, what about pricing?
The new model of Toyota Glanza costs Rs. 6.98 lakh, which is Rs. 24,000 cheaper than the current entry-level variant. At this price, it goes up against rivals like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, and Honda Jazz.
