Maruti Suzuki WagonR tops April 2024 hatchback sales in India
Maruti Suzuki WagonR led the hatchback sales in April 2024, selling a total of 17,850 units domestically. However, this figure represents a year-on-year (YoY) sales degrowth of 15%, compared to the 20,879 units sold during the same period last year. The Baleno premium hatch followed closely behind as the second most sold model with 14,049 unit sales, marking a YoY decline of 13% from April 2023's tally of 16,180 units.
Maruti Suzuki Alto and Tata Tiago secure top spots
The third place in April 2024's hatchback sales was secured by Maruti Suzuki Alto, with a total of 9,043 units sold. This figure indicates a YoY sales drop of 22% from the previous year's tally of 11,548 units. Tata Tiago finished fourth with 6,796 units sold, reflecting a YoY decline of 20%, from the previous year's total of 8,450 units.
Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza show growth
Hyundai i20 ranked fifth in April's hatchback sales with a total of 5,199 units sold, reflecting a YoY drop of 20% from the previous year's figure of 6,472 units. Notably, all top 10 finishers except for Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza recorded negative YoY sales growths. The Tata Altroz posted an impressive YoY growth of 11% with a total sale of 5,148 units, while the Toyota Glanza secured the eighth spot with a YoY growth of 20% selling 4,380 units.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki Swift struggle
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios came in seventh with a sales de-growth of 25% at 5,177 units as compared to the previous year's figure of 6,839 units. Despite being a new model in the market, the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift could only manage ninth place.
