Tesla unveils Model 3 Performance with 510hp dual-motor AWD powertrain
Tesla has unveiled its revamped Model 3 Performance for 2024, boasting a dual-motor setup that generates an impressive output of over 500hp. The enhanced model can accelerate from zero to 97km/h in just 2.9 seconds, marking a significant power increase from its predecessor. This new iteration introduces adaptive dampers, larger brakes, updated bodywork, and a track-specific driving mode. It also comes with an array of standard features that enhance the driving experience.
2024 Model 3 Performance: At a glance
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain of the 2024 Model 3 Performance now delivers a whopping 510hp, up from the previous model's 455hp. Equipped with the Long Range battery, Tesla estimates it can travel up to 476 kilometers on a single charge. This is slightly less than the Long Range AWD model which can cover up to 548 kilometers.
Model 3 Performance offers improved cornering
The Performance model offers improved cornering ability due to its lower stance, sitting 0.4-inch lower than the standard Model 3. It features a new adaptive damping system and a redesigned front end with vertical vents on the outermost corners. The car also sports a rear diffuser and carbon fiber spoiler designed to "reduce drag and improve lift balance at high speeds."
Inside the cabin
The interior of the new Model 3 Performance boasts heated and ventilated sports seats along with carbon fiber trim. It also features a premium 17-speaker sound system and an 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers that provides Bluetooth connectivity and controls for climate and entertainment. These enhancements add to the luxury and comfort of this high-performance vehicle.
How does the Model 3 Performance fare against its competitors?
Priced at $54,630, the Performance model positions itself as a competitor to the pricier BMW i4 M50 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. This pricing strategy places it in a competitive position in the electric vehicle market. Interestingly, Tesla has chosen not to bestow this updated Model 3 with the "Plaid" performance badge, which it has so far reserved for its more premium vehicles, the Model S and Model X.
