In an unexpected move, Tata Motors has quietly launched a new variant of its compact SUV, the Nexon. The XZ+ (S) model is offered with both petrol and diesel engines and comes at a starting price of Rs. 10.10 lakh. The car is largely based on the top-tier XZ+ (O) model and comes equipped with an electric sunroof. Here are more details.
A look at the Tata Nexon XZ+ (S)
Just like the other variants of the Tata Nexon, the new XZ+ (S) sports a compact yet stylish look with a minimalistic grille, sleek headlamps with mounted DRLs, and trapezoidal fog lamp housings. The car runs on 16-inch alloy wheels and gets silver-colored skid plates on both ends, blacked-out wheel arches as well as side claddings, and electronically adjustable ORVMs.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Nexon XZ+ (S) sports a five-seater cabin with rear AC vents, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof with tilt function, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car gets a centrally-mounted floating infotainment unit with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In the safety department, it has features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, and reverse parking camera.
Power and performance
The Tata Nexon XZ+ (S) is offered with two BS6-compliant engine options: 1.2-liter petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel. The petrol unit generates 118bhp of maximum power and 170Nm of peak torque, while the diesel mill makes 108bhp and 260Nm. Further, the car is offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.

As for the pocket-pinch, the new XZ+ (S) variant of the Tata Nexon costs Rs. 10.10 lakh for the petrol version and Rs. 11.60 lakh for the diesel version (all prices, ex-showroom). The car competes against Hyundai Venue and Kia Seltos.
