Tata Nexon CNG spied on test: What to expect?
Homegrown automaker Tata Motors, is preparing to launch a compressed natural gas (CNG) variant of its popular compact SUV, the Nexon in India. The top-spec model, painted in a white shade, was recently seen during real-world testing at a CNG filling station near Pune. Although the official release date remains undisclosed, it's expected to be later this year.
It will run on a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine
The Nexon CNG model showcased at the Auto Expo featured Tata's 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, a first for this segment. The standard petrol version of this mill delivers 118hp and 170Nm of torque. However, when running on CNG, these figures are expected to decrease to approximately 100hp and 150Nm respectively - still impressive numbers.
Transmission details of the car
Tata Motors has officially confirmed the inclusion of a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) in the new Nexon CNG model. There is speculation about the availability of a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) following the initial launch. However, details regarding pricing and the number of variants for the Nexon CNG are yet to be disclosed.
