Tata CURVV concept e-SUV unveiled: India's own Tesla Model Y?
Tata Motors has revealed its CURVV concept electric SUV in India. The production version should be up for grabs within the next two years. As for the highlights, the car bears a futuristic look and has a minimalist cabin with a bevy of features. The production-specific model will be fueled by an electric powertrain and shall promise a range of 400-500km per charge.
Why does this story matter?
The Tata CURVV offers head-turning looks, snazzy features, and excellent performance. If its properties are carried over to the production model, the company will have a massive hit on its hands. The car should be priced competitively and will draw in a lot of customers. The rivalry in the EV four-wheeler segment will also be raised significantly.
The car has black roof and cameras instead of ORVMs
The Tata CURVV has a sloping coupe-like roofline, black roof, closed front grille, full-width LED lighting strip, and a blacked-out bumper with triangular clusters on the sides. It is flanked by EV badging on the front doors, gloss black wheel arches, cameras instead of ORVMs, and aero-style wheels. A split spoiler, a light on the bumper, and LED taillights are available on the rear.
Its production version will have a range of around 500km
The Tata CURVV is fueled by an electric powertrain whose specifications and power figures are currently unavailable. In production guise, the car will deliver a range of around 400-500km on a single charge.
The vehicle gets a flat-bottom steering wheel and panoramic sunroof
The Tata CURVV has a two-tone black and blue-colored cabin, featuring a panoramic sunroof, a minimalist dashboard, an armrest at the front, a rotary dial for transmission, and a two-spoke, multifunctional, flat-bottom steering wheel. It packs two free-standing displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment panel. The production model will have multiple airbags and a rear-view camera to ensure safety.
What about its availability?
The Tata CURVV is a concept car and it is likely to debut as the Nexon Coupe by 2024. The model will arrive as an EV at first, followed by an ICE version in the future.
