Tata Altroz pre-bookings to commence from December 4: Details here
Tata Motors Ltd. is all set to commence the official pre-bookings for its upcoming premium hatchback, the Altroz, in India from December 4 at a token amount of Rs. 21,000. However, unofficially, select company dealerships are already accepting bookings for the car at Rs. 25,000. Notably, the company is likely to launch the car sometime in January next year. Here's more.
A look at the Tata Altroz
The Tata Altroz is based on the 45X concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, and is built on the company's ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform. It offers a compact look featuring a dual-tone color scheme with a blackened roof, a cascading grille with sleek headlamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, prominent wheel arches, and sporty-looking alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Tata Altroz is likely to offer a five-seater cabin with a height-adjustable driver seat and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car will come with features like cruise control, push-button start-stop, and ambient lighting. Besides that, the hatchback will house a semi-digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Power and performance
The Altroz will reportedly be offered in three BS6-compliant engine options including a 1.2-liter petrol, 1.2-liter turbo petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel. The former two churn out 85bhp and 102bhp of power, respectively, while the latter makes 90bhp. The engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission at the time of launch. However, the company might introduce an automatic gearbox option later.
Finally, what about pricing and availability?
The company has started the production of the Tata Altroz, and is all set to launch it in Indian market in January 2020. There is no official word on its pricing yet, but Autocar has claimed that the car is likely to be priced in the Rs. 5-8 lakh range. It will go up against rivals like Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, and Hyundai i20.
