Tata Altroz's India launch postponed to early 2020
Tata Altroz, which was set to launch in India this year, will now be released in early 2020. According to reports, Tata Motors Ltd. has postponed the launch of the hatchback in order to equip it with a BS6-compliant engine. To recall, the Altroz was first showcased as a concept model at the 2018 Auto Expo. Here's our roundup.
Tata Altroz: At a glance
Going by the design cues of the concept model, we expect the Tata Altroz to sport a compact look featuring a dual-tone color scheme with a blackened roof and blacked-out rear section with angular taillights. The hatchback is likely to sport a cascading grille with sleek headlamps, body-colored door handles as well as roof spoiler, and alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the five-seater Tata Altroz is likely to feature a blacked-out cabin with height adjustable driver seat and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. As for electronic features, the hatchback will come with a digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Power and performance
Going by the reports, the Tata Altroz will be available in three engine options: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2-liter turbo petrol unit, and a 1.5 liter diesel mill. The petrol units are capable of producing 85hp and 102hp of power, respectively. The diesel mill, on the other hand, will churn out 90hp of maximum power.
And, what will be the pricing?
There is no word about Tata Altroz's pricing as of now. However, we expect it to fall under Rs. 5-8 lakh price bracket and take on the likes of Toyota Glanza, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Honda Jazz.
