2019 EICMA show: Adventure tourer Suzuki V-Strom 1050 breaks cover
Suzuki has unveiled the V-Strom 1050 motorcycle at the ongoing EICMA show in Italy. The new motorcycle is offered in two variants: the standard 1050 and the premium 1050 XT model. The adventure tourer packs a bunch of electronic riding aids and is powered by an updated 1,037cc engine which complies with Euro 5 emission norms (equivalent to upcoming BS6 norms). Here's more.
Suzuki V-Strom 1050: At a glance
Suzuki V-Strom 1050 features a semi-faired design with a dual-tone paint job, a tall windscreen, split seats, and angular-looking fuel tank extensions. The motorcycle also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster and an all-LED setup for lighting. Apart from that, the premium XT variant comes with spoke wheels, an 11-way adjustable windscreen, height-adjustable seats, and brighter color options.
Power and performance
Both Suzuki V-Strom models are powered by a Euro 5/BS6-compliant 1,037cc V-twin engine which comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and churns out 105bhp of maximum power. The adventure tourer also gets the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) which offers several electronic aids such as ride-by-wire throttle for smoother engine response and Motion Track Brake System.
Suzuki V-Strom 1050: On the road
Both Suzuki V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050 XT come equipped with disc brakes on both wheels along with dual-channel ABS for improved braking efficiency. The premium XT model also gets riding aids such as hill-hold control, cruise control, and cornering ABS. Moreover, both models house upside-down telescopic forks on the front and a mono-shock unit on the rear for improved damping control.
Will it come to India?
Suzuki has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the V-Strom 1050 motorcycles as of now. However, according to reports, the Japanese automaker is likely to bring the adventure tourer in India sometime in the second half of 2020.
