Suzuki unveils 2020 Katana in two new color options
Japanese automaker Suzuki has unveiled two new color options for its liter-class sports tourer, the Katana, at an online show. The new color schemes, dubbed as Candy Red and Matte Black, impart a fresh look to the sports tourer. Other than that, the latest model is mechanically the same as the standard Katana. Here's our roundup.
A look at the new color variants
The Candy Red and Matte Black models of the Suzuki Katana feature a similar naked-street look as the existing color variants. They sport a muscular fuel tank, a flat type seat, and all-LED fitments for lighting. The Matte Black version houses golden-colored front forks as well as alloy wheels, while the Candy Red model gets body-colored alloy wheels.
Under the hood
The Suzuki Katana is powered by a 999cc four-cylinder engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This unit is capable of producing 147bhp of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 105Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm.
Suzuki Katana: On the road
In terms of safety, Suzuki Katana comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The suspension duties on the sports tourer are taken care of by upside-down forks on the front and a mono-shock unit on the rear.
And, when will it be launched in India?
The new color variants of the Suzuki Katana are yet to hit the production line, and hence their prices will be revealed at a later stage. Meanwhile, Suzuki is likely to bring the Katana to our shores sometime by the end of this year.
