Suzuki's retro-inspired Jimny XL Heritage goes official: Check features
Japanese automaker Suzuki has introduced a special edition of its small off-roader, the Jimny, named the Jimny XL Heritage. This new model features retro-styled body graphics that hark back to the 70s, 80s, and 90s - an era when "hair was long, freedom was everything, and Jimny's cult following first began." The vehicle is available in several colors including Bluish Black Pearl, Granite Gray, White, Jungle Green, and Ivory with a contrast black roof for the Ivory version.
A nod to past designs and limited availability
The Jimny XL Heritage not only boasts retro-inspired decals but also front and rear red-colored mudflaps, mirroring the design of the three-door Jimny Heritage, introduced in Australia last year. This previous special edition model was limited to 300 units and sold out within two days. In response to its popularity, Suzuki plans to produce 500 units of the five-door model, urging interested customers to act quickly if they wish to secure one.
Retro on the outside, modern underneath
Despite its retro exterior, the Jimny XL Heritage houses a modern drivetrain. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine connected to a five-speed manual gearbox, and a low-range all-wheel-drive system. The compact off-roader delivers 101hp and 130Nm of torque, enabling it to compete with rivals like the Land Rover Defender and Jeep Wrangler, on rough terrains. The special edition model also comes equipped with features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen display and rear-view camera.
Advanced connectivity and safety features
The Jimny XL Heritage supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, enhancing the driving experience. It also includes cruise control, automatic LED headlights, hill descent control, and rear parking sensors for added safety and convenience. The special edition model is priced at AUD 36,490 (approximately ₹20.2 lakh) in the international markets.
