Suzuki Motorcycle India is gearing up to launch a new Matte Black variant of its best-selling scooter, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. The new variant was spotted at a dealer stockyard, hinting at its imminent arrival in India. The Matte Black model will join the already available Gloss Black, Metallic White, and Matte Grey variants. Here's our roundup.
Let's take a look at the scooter
The new Matte Black model retains the underpinnings of the existing models. Hence, it features a sporty look with a big front apron and a tall windscreen. The headlights and turn indicators are also packed into the front apron. Further, the scooter gets a digital instrument panel along with a multi-function key slot, DC mobile-charging socket, and an all-LED setup for lighting.
Power and performance
The upcoming model is mechanically the same as the existing Suzuki Burgman Street variants. It is powered by the same BS4 compliant 124.3cc, air-cooled engine which churns out 8.7PS of power at 7,000rpm and 10.2Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm. Moreover, the engine is mated to an automatic transmission and promises a mileage of 53.5kmpl.
Suzuki Burgman Street: On the road
The new model, just like other variants, comes equipped with disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear wheels along with Combined Braking System (CBS) to avoid accidents due to skidding. For handling suspension duties, it houses telescopic forks on the front and a monoshock suspension on the rear.
And, what about pricing?
According to reports, the new Matte Black model will cost the same as the existing Suzuki Burgman Street variants. Therefore, it is expected to arrive at a price of around Rs. 69,200 (ex-showroom) in India. Lastly, the scooter will lock horns with rivals such as Honda Activa 5G, Hero Maestro Edge 125 and TVS NTorq 125.
