What's the story
Smart Cars, a brand known for its compact vehicles, is broadening its range with the introduction of its largest model yet, the Concept #5.
This mid-size SUV is set to launch later this year, and represents Smart's innovative take on the Mercedes-Benz GLB.
The new model boasts off-road capabilities, including a raised suspension and all-terrain tires, features typically seen in Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
Exteriors
The car is the 'most versatile' Smart model ever
The Concept #5 is being hailed as "the most versatile Smart of all time."
Its design includes robust skid plates, limb risers, plastic body cladding surrounding the wheel arches, and a sturdy roof rack.
Additionally, it features an LED light bar, a folding rear step for easy roof access, and a built-in winch.
These elements contribute to its versatility and off-road capabilities.
Powertrain
What about its performance?
The Concept #5 is equipped with all-wheel drive, powered by two electric motors and a large battery with over 100kWh capacity.
It employs 800V technology for rapid charging, requiring just 15 minutes to charge the battery from 10-80%.
When fully charged, the car can cover more than 550km on a single charge, based on the WLTP cycle.
Interior
Inside, the car gets a zero-gravity passenger seat
The interior of Concept #5 features an all-screen setup with three displays, including a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, and an additional panel exclusively for the front passenger.
Most functions are accessed through two larger OLED panels.
Unique features comprise a zero-gravity passenger seat with massaging and ventilation facilities, an AI-based virtual assistant, a removable speaker in the center console, and ambient lighting in all four headrests.
