Everything we know about SKODA Vision Gran Turismo electric supercar
SKODA has revealed its latest creation, the Vision Gran Turismo, a high-powered electric concept car designed exclusively for the Playstation racing game Gran Turismo. The single-seater vehicle is an all-wheel-drive speedster, that aims to "attract new fans" to the brand, according to SKODA CEO Klaus Zellmer. The virtual supercar is equipped with a 272hp electric motor on each rim, offering a total output of 1,088hp and 1,020Nm of torque.
What about its performance?
The Vision Gran Turismo is powered by an 87kWh Lithium-ion battery and uses a single-speed transmission. Zellmer assures that the car's all-wheel-drive system and active aerodynamics will provide "exceptional performance" on any track. The vehicle's configuration improves torque distribution between the two axles, resulting in superior cornering performance. Additionally, it incorporates a pushrod suspension system similar to those found in Formula E cars, designed to boost stability at high speeds, bring down body roll, and lower the center of gravity.
SKODA Vision GT: At a glance
The aesthetic of Vision Gran Turismo pays tribute to the 1957 SKODA 1100 OHC Spider racer, and incorporates elements from the firm's Modern Solid design language. This design approach was first shown by the SKODA Vision 7S and will be used for future electric vehicles (EVs). The car is 4,407mm long, 1,947mm wide, and 949mm tall. Its exterior features an aerodynamically refined bonnet reminiscent of the 1100 OHC Spider, a slim blanked-off front grille, T-shaped headlamps, and active aero components.
A look at the interiors
The interior of the Vision Gran Turismo features a streamlined digital cockpit with a central driving position, and a sports bucket seat tailored to contour the driver's body. The futuristic steering wheel, crafted from carbon fiber, was designed in association with seasoned Gran Turismo gamers. The vehicle's power meter is displayed on a crystal stone positioned directly above the steering wheel. This design approach ensures an immersive gaming experience for players, enhancing their virtual racing performance.
