SKODA SLAVIA to be offered in three trims in India
SKODA will launch its SLAVIA sedan in India on February 28. It will be offered in three variants, namely Active, Ambition, and Style. The 1.0 TSI MT models will be available in all the trims, while the AT version will be offered only in Ambition and Style models. The 1.5 TSI MT and AT units will be limited to the Style trim only.
Why does this story matter?
The SLAVIA has been announced as a part of SKODA's "India 2.0" strategy and is the first sedan to be based on the localized MQB A0 IN platform. It broke cover in December last year and will serve as a replacement to the RAPID model here. It should be priced competitively and will take on the Hyundai VERNA, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Honda City.
The sedan has a butterfly grille and 16-inch wheels
The SKODA SLAVIA has a sloping roofline, a chrome-surrounded butterfly grille, sleek LED headlamps, and a muscular hood. It is flanked by ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Wrap-around C-shaped LED taillamps and a shark-fin antenna grace the rear end. Dimensions-wise, it is 4,541mm long and 1,752mm wide. It will be offered in five color options in India.
Two petrol engine options will be offered
In India, the SKODA SLAVIA will run on a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine that makes 114hp/175Nm and a 1.5-liter TSI petrol mill that generates 148hp/250Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The four-wheeler gets five seats and six airbags
The SKODA SLAVIA has a spacious 5-seater cabin with a multifunctional steering wheel, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, and ventilated front seats. The safety of the passengers is ensured by six airbags, an electronic differential system, a rear-view parking camera, hill-hold control, and electronic stability control. It also houses an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel.
SKODA SLAVIA: Availability and pricing
The prices of the 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI variants of the SKODA SLAVIA will be announced on February 28 and March 3, respectively. However, the car is likely to start at around Rs. 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
