SKODA SLAVIA to be launched in India on February 28
SKODA has announced that it will launch the 1.0-liter TSI engine-equipped variants of the SLAVIA sedan in India on February 28, while the prices of the 1.5 TSI models will be announced on March 3. To recall, the sporty-looking vehicle broke cover in December last year and its local production has commenced. Deliveries will begin soon after the price announcement.
Why does this story matter?
The SLAVIA has been announced as a part of SKODA's "India 2.0" strategy and serves as a replacement to the RAPID model on our shores. It is the first sedan to be based on the localized MQB-A0-IN platform and is likely to be priced competitively. It will rival the Hyundai VERNA, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
The car sports 16-inch wheels and wrap-around taillights
The SKODA SLAVIA has a sloping roofline, a chrome-surrounded butterfly grille with vertical slats, a sculpted bonnet, and narrow LED headlamps. It is flanked by ORVMs, 16-inch alloy wheels, and blacked-out B-pillars. Wrap-around C-shaped LED taillamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a raked windscreen are available on the rear. Dimensions-wise, it is 4,541mm long, 1,752mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,651mm.
It gets a choice of two petrol engines
SKODA SLAVIA runs on a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder petrol mill that makes 115hp/175Nm and a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor that generates 150hp/250Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The sedan gets a rear-view parking camera and electric sunroof
The SKODA SLAVIA has a spacious 5-seater cabin, featuring automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It packs an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Six airbags, a rear-view parking camera, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, and an electronic differential system ensure the passengers' safety.
SKODA SLAVIA: Pricing
SKODA will disclose the availability and pricing details of the SLAVIA sedan in India at the time of its launch. However, the vehicle is tipped to carry a starting price-tag of around Rs. 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
