Skoda Rapid Rider launched in India at Rs. 7 lakh
Czech automaker Skoda has launched a more affordable limited-edition variant of Skoda Rapid in India. Titled as Skoda Rapid Rider, the new model costs Rs. 6.99 lakh, which makes it Rs. 1 lakh cheaper than the base-end Skoda Rapid Active. Notably, it is offered in single trim with a 1.6-liter petrol engine and manual transmission. Here's more.
Let's take a look at the car
Talking about exteriors, the Skoda Rapid Rider gets a blacked-out treatment on the front grille, side foils, B pillars, and trunk lip garnish. However, to reduce its cost, the company has ditched alloy wheels. It has a kerb weight of 1,205kg and a wheelbase of 2,552mm. Moreover, the mid-sized sedan will be offered in Candy White and Carbon Steel color options.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the five-seater Skoda Rapid Rider features a dual-tone cabin sporting ebony sand dashboard and the ivory slate upholstery. It gets a multifunctional power steering wheel and center armrests for the front and rear seats. Further, the sedan gets a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth and USB compatibility along with four speakers.
Power and performance
The Skoda Rapid Rider is powered by a 1.6-liter MPI petrol engine which is capable of producing 103bhp of power and 153Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and promises an ARAI certified mileage of 15.41kmpl.
Skoda Rapid Rider: On the road
The Skoda Rapid Rider gets a bunch of modern safety features including anti-glare rearview mirror, rear windscreen defogger, and height-adjustable seatbelts at the front. The sedan comes equipped with ABS along with dual front airbags and a rough road package. Furthermore, it gets an engine immobilizer with the floating code system and remote central locking for anti-theft provisions.
Finally, what about pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the Skoda Rapid Rider is priced at Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) which is Rs. 1 lakh less than the price of entry-level Skoda Rapid Active. At this price point, it will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, and Honda Amaze.
