SKODA's first all-electric compact SUV debuts on this date
Czech automaker SKODA is set to unveil its first all-electric compact SUV, the Elroq, on October 1. The upcoming vehicle will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform and will introduce SKODA's new 'Modern Solid' design language. The company has released several teasers and sketches of the Elroq, providing insights into its unique design and styling features.
Boomerang-style headlamps grace the front
The exterior design of the Elroq features segmented Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that extend across the car's front end. The vehicle also showcases boomerang-style headlamps, a blacked-out closed-off grille, and alloy wheels. The taillights incorporate SKODA's signature crab-arm LED design. The vehicle will also introduce a new 'Tech-Deck Face,' which includes LED Matrix beam headlights and new hood lettering. A unique Timiano Green color option is expected to be part of the lineup.
Elroq to offer 4 powertrain variants
The Elroq will be available in four powertrain variants. The base Elroq 50 will have a 125kW (167hp) electric motor and a 55kWh battery pack. The Elroq 60 will feature a more powerful 150kW (102hp) motor and a larger 63kWh battery pack. The top-tier models will include a single-motor Elroq 85 variant with an impressive output of up to 282hp and a dual-motor AWD-equipped Elroq 85x that will deliver up to 295hp from its twin motors.
Range and innovative features
SKODA has not yet disclosed specific performance figures for the Elroq variants. However, the company promises that depending on the variant, the SUV will offer up to 560km of range on a full charge. On the inside, the Elroq will feature a redesigned steering wheel and a large 13-inch infotainment touchscreen for an enhanced user experience.
Commitment to sustainability and user experience
The Elroq is designed as a versatile vehicle, suitable for both city driving and outdoor adventures. The 50, 60, and 85 variants will offer a rear-wheel-drive setup while the 85x variant will feature an AWD (all-wheel drive) setup. In line with sustainability goals, SKODA will use recycled materials like Recytitan in the Elroq's construction. In India, the car may debut in 2025 to take on Hyundai Creta EV, which is currently undergoing testing.
