Improved powertrain for Simple One e-scooter in India: Details here
Homegrown automaker Simple Energy has upgraded the electric motor of its Simple One scooter in India for better performance and thermal management. The powertrain now puts out a peak torque of 72Nm and allows the vehicle to sprint from 0-40km/h in less than 2.85 seconds. The two-wheeler also has a sporty design and offers a bevy of tech-based features.
Why does this story matter?
Simple One was introduced here on August 15 last year and is the brand's first model in India. The company has received more than 30,000 bookings for the two-wheeler to date. The electric scooter offers a decent range and looks sporty. It has been priced competitively and goes against rivals such as the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X.
The scooter gets full-LED illumination and Bluetooth support
The Simple One sits on a tubular frame and has a headlight-mounted front apron, a flat footboard, a single-piece seat with a pillion grab rail, and arrowhead-shaped mirrors. The scooter packs a Bluetooth-enabled 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument console, an all-LED setup for lighting, and rides on blacked-out wheels. It gets a 30-liter under-seat storage compartment and tips the scales at 110kg.
It has a top speed of 105km/h
The Simple One packs an 8.5kW motor linked to a 4.8kWh battery pack. The two-wheeler can accelerate from 0-40km/h in less than 2.85 seconds, hit a top speed of 105km/h, and deliver a range of over 200km.
Four riding modes are available
In terms of safety equipment, the Simple One is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels along with a tire pressure monitoring system and four riding modes (Eco, Dash, Sonic, and Rain). Suspension duties on the electric scooter are taken care of by telescopic forks on the front side and a mono-shock unit on the rear end.

In India, the Simple One electric scooter sports a price figure of Rs. 1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle's deliveries in the country will commence from June onward and its bookings are open.
