Mahindra to launch second-generation XUV500 in early 2021
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is working on launching the second-generation of its full-sized SUV, the XUV500, in India sometime next year. In the latest update, Dr. Pawan Goenka, the Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, has revealed that the car will be launched in early 2021 instead of 2020-end. How will it look like?
According to reports, the updated Mahindra XUV500 will come with a host of design updates and will look sportier than the outgoing model. Separately, previous spy shots have revealed that the car will get a redesigned front fascia, revised ORVMs, a powered tailgate, and flush door handles. For lighting, the SUV would house projector headlamps with LED DRLs and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
Quite like the outgoing model, the new-generation XUV500 will offer a luxurious and spacious seven-seater cabin. The updated model is likely to come with ventilated front seats wrapped in leather, a panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Apart from that, it will also get a fully-digital instrument console and a bigger touchscreen infotainment panel with support for connectivity features.
Power and performance
The second-generation Mahindra XUV500 will be offered with BS6-compliant 2.0-liter petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol unit is likely to produce 190PS of power and 380Nm of peak torque, while the details about the diesel mill are yet to be revealed. Further, the SUV will be offered with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.
And, what will be the pricing?
There is no official word on the pricing of the second-generation Mahindra XUV500 as of now. However, according to reports, the car would be priced similar to the outgoing model, which starts at Rs. 12.3 lakh.
