RE's Project Delta is a modern take on vintage motorcycles
What's the story
Royal Enfield has unveiled Project Delta, a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that combines vintage design with modern engineering.
The bike is a collaboration with Purpose Built Moto, and takes inspiration from the 1940s-50s era of motorcycling.
It also borrows styling cues from the Super Meteor 700 and the Flying Flea from World War 2.
Design details
A blend of vintage aesthetics and modern features
Though Project Delta is based on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, it has been heavily modified.
The frame has been reworked to showcase vintage hardtail styling with modern touches like an in-frame oil cooler and monoshock conversion.
The motorcycle also gets a handcrafted girder fork and 23-inch and 19-inch spoked wheels at the front and rear, respectively, adding to its retro appeal.
Tribute
It pays tribute to Royal Enfield's heritage
The design of Project Delta pays tribute to Royal Enfield's rich history.
The slim peanut tank takes inspiration from the 1952 Super Meteor 700, while the hand-shifted gears, solid-mounted bars, and a girder fork hark back to motorbikes from the 1940s.
The motorcycle also features era-correct rear fenders and a taillight, all topped off with a black, gold, and cherry red Art Nouveau-inspired paint scheme.
Performance
Project Delta is powered by a 648cc engine
Despite its vintage look, Project Delta is powered by a modern 648cc, air and oil-cooled parallel twin motor delivering 47hp and 52Nm.
This engine ensures the bike retains a raw, immersive riding experience.
However, it's important to note that while this prototype looks like an ideal collector's piece, it won't be mass-produced or made available for sale.
