Royal Enfield discontinues Bullet Trials range in India: Details here
Royal Enfield has discontinued its Bullet Trials range of motorcycles in India. The homegrown automaker will not update the Bullet Trials 350 and Trials 500 motorcycles to comply with the mandatory emission norms, implying the line-up would no longer be available in the country. Notably, the bikes, that went official last year, failed to attract buyers due to their single-seat design and premium price-tags.
A look at the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials range
Quite like the standard Bullet models, the Bullet Trials 350 and Trials 500 models featured a naked street design with several retro-styled elements. They offered rounded headlamp as well as mirrors, spoked wheels, and a chrome-finished up-swept exhaust. Meanwhile, these motorcycles came with a single seat and a luggage rack as against the pillion seat that is offered on the standard Bullet range.
Power and performance
The Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 and Trials 500 models drew power from a 346cc and 499cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, respectively. The former was capable of producing 20PS of maximum power and 28Nm of peak torque, while the latter used to churn out 27.5PS and 41.3Nm. To manage transmission duties, both the motorcycles housed a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Safety and road handling
In terms of safety, both Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 and Trials 500 came equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear ends, along with dual-channel ABS as standard. The suspension duties on these motorcycles were handled by telescopic forks up front and a 5-step adjustable dual-shock unit on the rear.
And, here's a look at their prices
As for the pocket-pinch, the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 350 was available at Rs. 1.62 lakh, while the more powerful Bullet Trials 500 was priced at Rs. 2.07 lakh. The motorcycles faced stiff rivalry from their own cousin, the BS4 Royal Enfield Himalayan which arrived as a pretty capable off-roader and cost nearly Rs. 27,000 less than the Trials 500.
