Production of Renault KIGER SUV commences, launch in India soon
Renault is expected to launch its KIGER compact SUV in India next month and its bookings should commence soon. In the latest development, the company has started the production of the four-wheeler at its factory in Chennai and is dispatching the units to authorized dealerships. The KIGER has a sporty design, a premium-looking cabin, and is offered with a choice of two petrol engines.
Renault KIGER: At a glance
Renault KIGER is based on the CMFA+ platform. It sports a 'floating' roof, a twin-slat grille with hints of chrome, a dual-tone bumper, silver skid plates, sleek LED headlights with DRLs, and C-shaped taillights. It is flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Dimensions-wise, it has a wheelbase of 2,500mm and a ground clearance of 205mm.
Power and performance
In India, the Renault KIGER will come with two BS6-compliant petrol engine choices- a 1.0-liter mill that makes 71hp/96Nm and a 1.0-liter turbocharged motor that generates 98hp/160Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual, a 5-speed automatic, and a CVT gearbox.
A peek inside the cabin
The Renault KIGER has a spacious 5-seater cabin with a wireless smartphone charger, an air purifier, and a 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. The car houses a digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment console with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To ensure the safety of the passengers, there are four airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors.
What about the pricing?
The pricing and availability details of the Renault KIGER in India will be announced at the time of launch, which is likely to happen by March. However, it is expected to carry a starting price-tag of around Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
