Deliveries of Porsche Taycan electric car have started in India
German automaker Porsche has started delivering the Taycan electric sports car to customers in India. The first unit, a Taycan Turbo finished in Green Mamba Metallic color, was handed over to the proud buyer at Porsche Center Delhi-NCR. In India, the car starts at Rs. 1.5 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and is offered in four versions, namely Taycan, Turbo, Turbo S, and 4S.
Why does this story matter?
The Porsche Taycan EV is the company's first-ever electric vehicle. It was announced in India in November 2021 and now, the deliveries of the car have commenced. Internationally, the car has seen phenomenal success. The automaker had sold 28,640 units in the first nine months of 2021. It increases competition in the growing segment of zero-emission luxury four-wheelers in India.
The car has adjustable LED headlamps
The Porsche Taycan EV has a sloping roofline, a sculpted bonnet, split LED headlamps with DRLs, and fog lights. On the sides, it is flanked by door-mounted ORVMs, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and automatically extending door handles. The rear end gets a curved bumper with a matte-finish skid plate, a full-width LED taillight, a 3-stage spoiler system, and a 3D "PORSCHE" logo.
It is backed by a 625hp electric powertrain
The Porsche Taycan Turbo model gets twin electric motors that together produce 625hp of maximum power and 850Nm of peak torque. The motors are powered by a 93.4kWh battery that promises a claimed range of 420km per charge.
The EV sports a 16.8-inch curved digital instrument cluster
The Porsche Taycan EV has a luxurious cabin made from sustainable materials. There is an 8.4-inch display on the center console, a 10.9-inch panel on the dashboard, a driver-focused 16.8-inch curved digital instrument cluster, and an optional head-up display. The EV also provides a slew of driver assistance features such as lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping, and comfort access.
Porsche Taycan EV: Pricing
Porsche India has started the deliveries of its Taycan electric. The price of the premium four-wheeler starts at Rs. 1.5 crore for the standard variant and goes up to Rs. 2.1 crore for the Turbo Cross Turismo trim (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
