New Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire set for late 2024 launch
The Indian compact sedan market is preparing to welcome two new models, the next-generation Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire, later this year. The all-new Dzire sedan will be the first to arrive during the festive season. Following closely behind, the launch of the new Amaze is slated for the final months of 2024. Both models will initially feature petrol-only engines, with potential CNG powertrain additions in future stages.
What about the Honda Amaze?
The new Honda Amaze will be built on the same architecture as the City and Elevate, albeit with a slightly shorter wheelbase. The design is expected to draw inspiration from larger Honda sedans sold internationally. Significant interior upgrades are anticipated, including a bigger, free-standing touchscreen borrowed from the Elevate. Other interior components will possibly be shared with other Honda India cars to keep up with the competition.
Dzire: Design and safety features
The new Dzire's exterior design will align with the recently launched fourth-generation Swift. The interior will feature a modernized cabin, complete with a 9.0-inch, free-standing touchscreen, a first-in-segment sunroof, tweaked HVAC controls, and a refreshed dashboard. In terms of safety features, the car will offer six airbags as standard across all variants. This is in line with the brand's commitment to prioritizing passenger safety.
Engine specifications and fuel efficiency
Under the hood, the Amaze is likely to retain its 90hp/110Nm, 1.2-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine, that's paired with a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The Dzire will be powered by Swift's 82hp/112Nm, 1.2-liter Z series three-cylinder petrol mill, mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The Dzire is expected to deliver fuel efficiency of around 24-25km/liter, mirroring its hatchback sibling.
