Everything we know about India-bound 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift
The highly anticipated next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, internally known as the YED, is poised to make its debut in the Indian market soon. The new model promises a host of advanced features, surpassing its predecessor when it comes to technology and design. This has been evidenced by its recent launches in Japan as well as Europe. Here's everything we know.
Interior design and tech features
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift aligns its interior design with recent models like the Baleno, Brezza, and Fronx. The global-spec Swift has LED headlights and taillamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable mirrors. A standalone 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support is also available.
Enhanced safety features
The foreign-spec Swift is equipped with six airbags, a tire pressure monitor, ABS, EBD, brake assist, an electronic stability program, and hill hold control. It also includes ADAS facilities like lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning and prevention. However, it's expected that the ADAS safety tech may not be included in the Indian version.
Evolutionary design changes and dimensions
The new-generation Swift showcases evolutionary design changes, maintaining a consistent philosophy but with a sharper, more contemporary look. The upcoming model is 15mm longer, 40mm slimmer, and 30mm taller than the current version. Despite being marketed as a fourth-generation model by Maruti Suzuki, it continues to be built on the same HEARTECT platform.
Launch and market competition
Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced an official launch date for the new Swift, but it's expected to be unveiled in a few months. Following this, the new-generation Dzire will be introduced. The upcoming Swift will continue to compete with hatchbacks like Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago, maintaining its position in the similarly priced segment.
