Tata Motors launches new entry-level variants for Nexon compact SUV
Tata Motors has launched new entry-level variants for its popular Nexon model, effectively lowering the starting price. This strategic move follows closely on the heels of the launch of its rival, the Mahindra XUV 3XO in India. The base price for the Tata Nexon's petrol variant now stands at ₹8 lakh, while diesel variants begin at ₹10 lakh.
New variants introduced to compete with XUV 3XO
The new entry-level variant for the Nexon petrol, named Smart (O), is priced at ₹8 lakh, making it ₹15,000 cheaper than the previous base trim. These new models are introduced to compete with the lower-priced versions of the XUV 3XO, which start from ₹7.49 lakh. Tata has also reduced prices for the Smart + and Smart + S variants by ₹30,000 and ₹40,000 respectively.
Expansion and price reduction in Nexon diesel range
The Nexon diesel range has been expanded with two new trims - Smart + and Smart + S. The former, priced at ₹10 lakh, serves as the new entry-level variant while the latter costs ₹10.60 lakh. With these additions, Tata Motors has reduced the base price of Nexon diesel by ₹1.10 lakh, making it more competitive in the market.
No mechanical changes in new Nexon variants
Despite the changes in pricing and variants, Tata Motors has made no mechanical alterations to the compact SUV. The Nexon continues to be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine making 120hp and 170Nm, and a 1.5-liter diesel unit that generates 115hp and 260Nm of torque. The features offered with the Nexon remain unchanged, ensuring consistent performance across all variants.
