    What's the story

German automaker Mercedes-Benz is working to launch the third-generation model of its premium SUV, the GLS, in India in the coming months.

The flagship car has been listed on the company's India website, hinting at an imminent launch.

To recall, the SUV made its global debut last year at the New York International Auto Show.

    Here are more details.

    Exteriors

A look at the new Mercedes-Benz GLS

The third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS comes with a bulky stance featuring an attractive front profile. The car gets a chrome-finished twin-slat grille, faux skid plates on both the ends, and a muscular-looking bonnet with sculpted lines.

The car also comes with roof rails, angular-looking alloy wheels wrapped in wide tires, and chrome highlights around the windows.

    Interiors

The car gets an ultra-luxurious and feature-loaded cabin

Inside, the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS offers a luxurious cabin that can accommodate up to seven people. It gets power-adjustable ventilated seats wrapped in leather and five-zone automatic climate control.

There is a dual-display for the instrument cluster and infotainment panel, along with optional 11.6-inch touchscreen panels for rear passengers.

It also offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, and several other driver-friendly features.

    Engine

    Power and performance

Internationally, the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered with two petrol engine options wherein one is a V8 unit coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system while the other is a six-cylinder motor.

Apart from that, there is also a six-cylinder diesel unit with two states of tune.

All the aforementioned engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all the wheels.

    Information

And, how much will it cost?

Mercedes-Benz India will reveal the prices of the third-generation GLS at its launch event itself, which is expected to happen in the coming months. However, looking at the specifications, the car will be priced between Rs. 85 lakh and Rs. 1 crore.
