Mercedes, Audi, BMW to introduce new car models in India
Luxury car manufacturers, including Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and MINI, are preparing to launch as many as nine new models in India this year. These will include both updates to existing models and brand-new cars and SUVs. Among the anticipated releases is a generational update of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Maybach EQS SUV, GLC Coupe, and a GLB facelift. Additionally, there'll be new models for the BMW 5 Series, MINI Countryman and Cooper electric, Audi Q6 e-tron, and a facelifted Audi Q8.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class will arrive in a long-wheelbase format
The updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class model will be 15mm longer, 20mm wider, and 17mm longer than its predecessor. The engine options are expected to include the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol; 2.0-liter, four-cylinder diesel; and 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder diesel engines, as seen on the outgoing model. This new generation is set to arrive exclusively in a long-wheelbase format.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV coming soon
Mercedes is also set to introduce its all-electric Maybach EQS SUV in '680' form with a 108.4kWh battery, two electric motors producing a total output of 658hp and 950Nm, and a range of up to 600km. Prices are expected to be around ₹4 crore.
Mercedes Benz GLC Coupe, GLB facelift also on the horizon
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, offering an alternative design to the GLC SUV with a raked roofline and plunging tailgate, is expected to share its powertrain options with the SUV. Additionally, the Mercedes Benz GLB facelift is due for release as part of Mercedes's 12 car launch overhaul. Cosmetic changes and updates to the infotainment system are expected while retaining the petrol and diesel engines with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Prices will likely be under ₹70 lakh.
BMW 5 Series set to launch this festive season
The BMW 5 Series is also set for a launch in India this festive season. This eighth-generation model will come in a long wheelbase guise, unlike its electric counterpart, the i5, which comes with a regular wheelbase option.
Audi Q6 e-tron to arrive by 2024-end
Audi is preparing to launch its first vehicle built on the Group's PPE platform - the Q6 e-tron. This electric SUV is expected to arrive by year-end with an 83kWh battery pack and two-wheel drive. The Q6 e-tron is expected to be priced in ₹70 lakh - ₹80 lakh range. The Audi Q8 facelift is also launching soon in India after its global debut last September, featuring a light makeover and upgraded features compared to the outgoing model.
MINI Countryman and Cooper Electric set for Indian market
The third-gen MINI Countryman is headed for India after making its global debut last September. The sub-compact SUV will offer three petrol options and an all-electric powertrain overseas. It will also include some cosmetic upgrades. Additionally, the new MINI Cooper electric is to be launched in the third quarter. Built on a dedicated EV platform, it is globally available in two variants: Cooper E and Cooper SE. It remains to be seen if MINI will introduce both variants in India.
