New KTM 125 Duke spied; Indian debut in 2023
Austrian automaker KTM is expected to launch the new-generation version of its 125 Duke motorbike in India next year. In the latest development, a test mule of the vehicle sans camouflage has been found testing on the roads, revealing important design details. The pictures indicate that it will have a trellis frame, five-spoke wheels, and raised handlebars, among other highlights.
Why does this story matter?
The new iteration of the KTM 125 Duke will offer better looks and performance in comparison to the outgoing model. It is likely to attract many customers globally. When the two-wheeler arrives on our shores, it will be a completely built unit and should be priced competitively. The competition in the market will be raised to a great extent.
The bike will have split seats and full-LED illumination
The 2023 KTM 125 Duke will sit on a trellis frame and have a cast aluminium subframe, a muscular fuel tank with extensions, split-style seats, an underbelly exhaust, and arrowhead-shaped mirrors. The bike shall pack a digital instrument console, an all-LED setup for lighting, and ride on five-spoke alloy wheels. Its fuel storage capacity and ground clearance will be disclosed later.
It will run on a 14hp, 125cc engine
The 2023 KTM 125 Duke should draw power from a 125cc, liquid-cooled engine that puts out a maximum power of around 14.3hp and a peak torque of 12Nm. The mill will be linked to a 6-speed gearbox.
It might get dual-channel ABS
To ensure the safety of the rider, the new KTM 125 Duke would be equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with dual-channel ABS for better handling on the roads. Suspension duties on the motorcycle will be taken care of by inverted telescopic forks on the front side and a shock absorber on the rear end.
2023 KTM 125 Duke: Pricing and availability
KTM will disclose the availability and pricing details of the new 125 Duke motorcycle in India at the time of its launch. However, it should cost more than the current model priced at Rs. 1.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
