Kia Carens registers over 19,000 bookings in India; deliveries underway
Kia Motors has started delivering its all-new Carens MPV to buyers in India. Touted as a "recreational vehicle," the family mover was launched in the country on February 15. According to the company, the Carens had received over 19,000 bookings up until its launch on our shores, and the demand is only expected to grow given its attractive price-value proposition.
Why does this story matter?
Joining the Seltos, Sonet, and Carnival, the Kia Carens is the brand's fourth model in India. It is offered in Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus trims. The car has been priced very competitively here and should rack up decent sales. It goes against rivals such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra Marazzo, Hyundai ALCAZAR, and Mahindra XUV700.
The car flaunts a chrome bar and LED taillights
The Kia Carens sports split-LED headlights, LED fog lights, a chrome-surrounded radiator grille, and a narrow chrome bar. It is flanked by roof rails, indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, and 16-inch alloy wheels. A shark-fin antenna and wrap-around LED taillights are available on the rear. The MPV is available in eight color options, including Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Gray, and Clear White.
It comes with three engine options
The Kia Carens gets three engine choices: a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine that makes 112hp/144Nm, a 1.5-liter diesel mill that churns out 112hp/250Nm, and a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol motor that generates 136hp/242Nm. The engines are paired to a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The vehicle has a Bose audio system and sunroof
Kia Carens has a 6/7-seater cabin, featuring a one-touch tumble facility for the middle row, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, a Bose sound system, a multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with connected car technology support. Six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and electronic stability control ensure the passengers' safety.
