MINI's electric car to launch in India on February 24
BMW-owned luxury brand MINI is gearing up to launch its Cooper SE electric hatchback in India. In the latest development, the company has announced that the four-wheeler will make its debut in India on February 24. The car has a retro-inspired look and is powered by an electric powertrain that promises a range of 270km on a single charge.
Why does this story matter?
The Indian market has been eagerly awaiting the launch of the MINI Cooper SE electric ever since the company opened pre-bookings for the car back in October. To recall, all 30 units allotted for India were sold out in less than a week. The introduction of the Cooper SE electric will further strengthen the company's position in the country's burgeoning electric vehicle segment.
The car sports 17-inch alloy wheels
The MINI Cooper SE features a muscular hood with a vent, a chrome-surrounded hexagonal grille, and oval-shaped LED headlamps with DRLs. It is flanked by door-mounted contrast-colored ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, flared wheel arches, and 17-inch designer alloy wheels. The rear end of the car is graced by 'Union Jack'-patterned LED taillamps, a roof-mounted antenna, and a window wiper.
It can go from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds
The all-electric MINI Cooper SE draws power from an electric motor mated to a 32.6 kWh battery pack. The powertrain delivers a combined output of 181hp/270Nm. The hatchback can sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds and has a top-speed of 150km/h.
The four-wheeler has an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment panel
The MINI Cooper SE offers a premium cabin with Nappa leather upholstery, a Harmon Kardon-tuned audio system, a multifunctional heated steering wheel, and a wireless smartphone charger. It houses a 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for the latest connectivity options. For passengers' safety, it has multiple airbags and a 360-degree-view camera.
Mini Cooper SE: Pricing and availability
MINI will disclose the official pricing and availability details of the Cooper SE electric car at the time of its launch on February 24. However, we expect it to be priced around Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
