India-specific MG ZS EV to be unveiled on December 5
MG Motor is all set to unveil its second four-wheeler in India, the MG ZS EV, on December 5. The fully-electric SUV, which is currently available in select international markets including the UK and China, will be launched in the country sometime in January 2020. Notably, the car is likely to offer a bunch of hi-tech features and a range of around 400km.
First, how will it look like?
Going by the design of the existing model, we expect the MG ZS EV to offer a premium look with a chrome finished grille and a charging port tucked behind it. The car will also get electronically adjustable ORVMs, silver-colored roof rails, and blacked-out claddings on the side skirts. Moreover, it should offer an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, turn indicators, and taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the MG ZS EV is likely to offer a five-seater cabin with leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control with built-in air purifier. The car will reportedly get an 8-inch infotainment panel with support for connectivity features and voice assistant. Besides that, it is also likely to offer i-SMART connected car features, similar to what we have seen on MG Hector.
Power and performance
The existing MG ZS EV packs an electric motor which produces 150PS power and 350Nm peak torque. The motor is powered by a 44.5kWh Lithium-ion battery that can be fueled up in 6 hours using a home box charger, while a 50kW DC charger can recharge it by upto 80% in 40 minutes. Furthermore, it promises a range of 400km on a single charge.
Finally, what about pricing?
In India, the MG ZS EV will be assembled locally at the company's plant located in Halol, Gujarat. There is no official word on its pricing as of now. However, reports suggest that the fully-electric SUV will arrive as a direct rival to Hyundai Kona and will cost somewhere around Rs. 20 lakh.
