MG to launch Gloster SUV in India by Diwali 2020
MG Gloster, the full-sized SUV which made its India debut at the recently-concluded Auto Expo, is likely to be launched in the country in November 2020. The premium car is based on the China-specific Maxus D90 SUV. It sports an eye-catching design, and offers a bunch of hi-tech features. Here are the finer details.
MG Gloster: At a glance
The MG Gloster comes with a bulky yet appealing design, featuring a massive chrome-finished grille, sleek LED headlights with mounted DRLs, roof rails, and silver-colored skid plates on both the ends. The SUV houses sporty-looking alloy wheels, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and chrome highlights around the windows. Moreover, it gets an attractive rear profile with LED taillamps and 'GLOSTER' lettering on the boot lid.
Inside the cabin
MG Motor is yet to reveal details about the interiors of the India-specific Gloster SUV. However, we expect it to offer a luxurious and a feature-loaded cabin- just like other MG cars. The SUV is likely to come with ventilated seats, three-zone climate control, an 8-inch fully-digital instrument console, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for connectivity features and connected car technology.
Power and performance
In international markets, the MG Gloster is available with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine which is capable of producing 221bhp of maximum power and 360Nm of peak torque. Apart from that, the India-specific model will also get a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel mill. well. To manage transmission duties, the car will be offered with a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
And, how much will it cost?
There is no official or unofficial word regarding the pricing of MG Gloster in India as of now. But looking at its premium design and hi-tech features, we expect the car to be priced around Rs. 35 lakh. Lastly, it will go up against Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour, and Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace.
