MG E230 two-door EV to arrive in India in 2023
British automaker MG Motor will launch a two-door car (codenamed E230) in India in 2023, an Autocar report has claimed. The vehicle will be based on the Wuling Hongguang Mini and shall have a four-seater cabin with many features. It will draw power from an electric powertrain and shall promise a range of around 150km on a single charge.
Why does this story matter?
The MG E230 will be a mass-market EV for emerging markets such as India and shall be a decent addition to the electric car segment on our shores. The vehicle is expected to be priced affordably here and should attract a lot of customers. It remains to be seen whether this electric two-door vehicle will raise the competition in the market.
The car will be built on the GSEV platform
The MG E230 will be based on the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform and shall have a small bonnet, a large grille, a wide air dam, and narrow headlights. On the sides, it will be flanked by two doors, ORVMs, and alloy wheels. A large windscreen and vertically positioned taillamps will grace the rear end of the vehicle.
It will be fueled by a 54hp electric motor
The MG E230 will pack a 54hp electric motor linked to a 20kWh battery pack. The power figures are currently unavailable but the vehicle is tipped to deliver a range of around 150km on a single charge.
The vehicle will get dual front airbags and 4 seats
The MG E230 will have a spacious 4-seater cabin, featuring rear parking sensors, auto climate control, key-less entry, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It should house a touchscreen infotainment console with support for the latest connectivity options and connected car features. The safety of the passengers will be ensured by dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and crash sensors.
