SL 680 Monogram Series is Mercedes-Maybach's sportiest car ever
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, a more luxurious variant of the standard SL Roadster. The company describes this new four-wheeler as the "sportiest car in Maybach's history." It is currently the only two-seater model in Maybach's lineup, and is powered by a non-hybrid, 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Deliveries will begin with Europe next year, followed by other markets.
A look at the exteriors
The Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series showcases a unique Maybach grille with sleek vertical slats that light up. The front bumper has been redesigned, featuring abundant chrome detailing over the standard SL Roadster. At launch, it will be up for grabs in Garnet Red Metallic and Opalite White Magno color options, with an Obsidian Black hood for a two-tone finish.
Handcrafted logos and premium interiors
The car's hood and soft roof are adorned with a unique pattern of Maybach logos, some of which are handcrafted. The bonnet also flaunts an upright Mercedes star, and a chrome-finished fin running from the front to rear along its center. Inside, the vehicle is outfitted with tanned, crystal white nappa leather, and trim parts in gleaming silver chrome. The seats offer aerodynamically designed 'scoops' with the Maybach emblem, visible only when the top is down.
SL 680 prioritizes comfort
Mercedes-Benz has prioritized comfort in the Maybach SL 680 by optimizing the exhaust system for reduced noise. The firm also offers an insulation and absorption package, a comfort-oriented suspension setup, and soft engine mounts. These features are designed to enhance the overall luxury experience for passengers.
Powertrain and performance
The Maybach SL 680 is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 585hp of power and 800Nm of torque. This mill is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, that sends power to all four wheels through Mercedes's 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. The car can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds, demonstrating its impressive performance capabilities.
